BANANAS.....Moose Love bananas!

Including the peel!

Scientists are not exactly sure what it is about bananas that appeals to moose, perhaps the high potassium levels or it may be the taste that appeals to moose. (Information courtesy Dr. Vince Crichton, Manitoba, Canada). Dr. Tom Stephenson recounted stories of moose charging him when he was eating bananas while out in the field!

DID YOU KNOW?....................

That Moose can swim? Not only can they swim, they can go as fast as 6 mph.
That Moose are great runners? They can clock in at 35 mph!
The Algonquin Tribe named Moose after their word "moos" or "mus" which means " animal that strips bark off of trees".
That Moose are part of the Deer family?
That male moose, called bulls, grow new antlers every year and shed them in late Fall or early winter?
That male antlers can grow as large as 82' wide? That's 6 feet, 10 inches wide!
That Moose can attack trains, cars, horses, dogs and people but run from a swarm of black flies?
That Moose are not a herd animal, but rather, loners? That they do not hibernate?
That they are the largest "ungulate" in the Deer family. Latin name "Alces Alces".
