Despite a sluggish U.S. economy the five Wyoming Governor’s moose tags sold for an all time high. All the tags were sold at live auctions as follows:

1/29/2011 – Safari Club International – Reno, NV - $19,000

2/04/2011 – Mule Deer Foundation – Salt Lake City, UT - $17,000

2/12/2011 – Wild Sheep Foundation-Reno, NV – $21,000

3/04/2011 – Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation – Reno, NV – $27,000

3/26/2011 – Mule Deer Foundation – Central Coast Chapter (NAMF’s moose tag) – San Jose, CA – $27,000

Ninety percent of the $111,000 raised from the sales of these tags will go to the directly to the benefit of Wyoming’s moose via moose research projects, habitat conservation, etc. These projects have a direct impact on Wyoming’s moose and an indirect benefit to other big game, small game and non-game species. This is truly one of the most beneficial programs to Wyoming’s moose out there today. The most recent benefactor of these ((2009) funds was a capture and collar, multi-year study of thirty moose implemented in March, 2011 near Bondurant, WY.

Welcome to the launching of the NAMF’s brand new website. A big thanks goes out to Jacob Van Dyke of Van Dyke Designs who spent countless hours donating his time developing this site for the NAMF. Jake also designed our new logo and NAMF stationery.

We will make every effort to keep our members up to date on the news that effects North America’s moose and the NAMF through not only this website, but also our new facebook page (NAMF – North American Moose Foundation) and E-alerts.

In the past our website has not been updated as frequently as it should have been but our leadership has changed with the December 2010 election of myself, Rob Anderson, as our new president who is trying to correct the mistakes of our past and move the NAMF in a new direction. Our board has been reshaped over the past year and one half and albeit smaller than in the past, it is currently has 10 members who are truly devoted to seeing the success of the NAMF and North America’s moose. With that said, keep in mind we are a board of volunteers and not expert IT personnel so we may make a few mistakes along the way, but hopefully not too many.

I hope you enjoy this website and if you’re not already a member, sign up and become a member soon.

Sincerely,

Rob Anderson

President – NAMF
