Speaker's Bureau
The North American Moose Foundation has implemented an international speaker's bureau for the furthering of moose education and knowledge about moose habitat. We have gathered speakers from the Yukon, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Sweden, Alaska, Minnesota, Michigan, Arizona, and Idaho and a zoo expert from Ohio. We are working on adding to the list. The North American Moose Foundation will be liaison connecting requests for presenters with appropriate speakers. It will be up to the speaker and the requesting organization to agree on final details. The North American Moose Foundation will act only as a network.
Quarterly Newsletter
Our new solutions include educational ideas and materials, articles from moose biologists, guest biology articles, moose news, hunting information and news, project information, volunteer programs, events, calendar of up-coming events, annual convention information and membership information. We will use volunteer labor for the mailing, as well as the executive director's time to gather article ideas. The volunteer board members and advisory committee will write many of the articles.
Field Trips
Heighten awareness of moose and habitat by encouraging schools, home-schoolers and private organizations to take advantage of the North American Moose Foundation Headquarters, Mackay, Idaho, as a destination for education and field trips.
Trips will include the map of North America that we use for Moose Watchers call-ins; we will show Dr. Vince Crichton's moose video and play the moose sounds and call CD. We will be receiving a complete set of papers presented over the last 3 decades from the Alces Alces Moose Conference and we hope to eventually have a mounted head and antlers of a moose.
The tours will initially be given by the executive director and eventually by trained volunteers. The North American Moose Foundation, to further support public education, will help interested biology students learn about the moose and its shared habitat. We will create a positive scientific learning environment for the public.
