HOW YOU CAN HELP IN 2006 AND BEYOND:

Ø      Internship & Scholarship funding: We currently employ five student interns from Mackay High School in our headquarters and Education Center.  We would like to be able to increase the number of interns, extend their hours, and also train them as docents for Moose Center tours.  Four of our current interns are seniors and are leaving to attend college.  They are each receiving an amount of scholarship money granted by the NAMF.  We would like to be able to increase our scholarship budget in 2006 so we can keep helping fund our interns for furthering their education.

Ø      Chapters: We are currently helping setup NAMF Chapters throughout the United States and Canada.  We want to create more and more chapters so they can help benefit the Moose Foundation and help to support our Mission Statement to promote the species; educate the public; conserve habitat and promote hunting and viewing moose.

Ø      Funding for Publications and Website development: We need to update our educational and promotional material, continue publishing the newsletter and fully update the website in 2006.

Ø      Sponsorship for Habitat Projects: We would like to undertake more planting projects in 2006-2007, throughout the United States and Canada.

Ø      Funding for travel and related expenses for educational booths at EXPO’S and Chapter Kick-Off banquets throughout North America: Continue traveling throughout North America as part of our educational plan.

Ø      Funding for the Moose Center Museum and Headquarters, including tour guides and administrative costs- rent, utilities, and staff.

MOOSE FOUNDATION ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2005:

v      Scholarship Program - Helped support student interns to pursue their college education - total scholarship funding was $500 in 2005.

v      Internship Program - Featured a “school to work” program with local Mackay High School Students.  This is enormously successful program.  Our student interns help with writing articles and designing our newsletters, updating and expanding our website, writing grants, habitat projects and much more.

v      “Moose Center Learning Lab” - The center has grown over the last year with altogether seven moose mounts in 2005.  The moose center is free, open to the public, wheelchair accessible, and in a main street building.  The center helps teach about habitat, conservation, hunting and moose viewing.  We continue to host more and more visitors from schools, community groups, and tourists.

v      E-Alerts - Initiated by one of our student interns, emails are sent to alert members of events or breaking news about Moose or the Foundation.

v      Website www.moosefoundation.org - Our student interns working in our headquarters continue to update and develop our website.  The site includes news on the Foundation’s events, education and conservation projects, news releases, educational grants, great moose stories and photos.

v      Online Shopping - We have expanded the merchandise page on the website, enabling the public to shop online for Moose Foundation hats, mugs, clothing, art, hunt tickets, memberships, and much more.

v      Quarterly Newsletters - We published quarterly newsletters to inform members about activities and events of the Moose Foundation and provide educational articles, including great moose photos and a fun filled kid’s page.

v      “ASK US” - Continuation of our public informational resource program that answers moose inquiries, sent to us from all over the world - wonderful questions about anything relating to “Moose” are forwarded onto our advisors and Moose Biologists for discussion.

v      The Moose Watchers Card - We continued to gather information from the public, reporting their moose sightings and unusual findings.  We then pass that information along to the appropriate scientists, in the United States and Canada.

v      EXPO’S - We sponsored numerous educational and promotional booths in Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, Alaska, Utah, Montana, Yukon Territories, and British Columbia.

v      Memberships - We reached 3,000 members in our five years as an organization.  Our memberships include; Senior Citizens, Students, Individuals, Families, Outfitters & Guides, Charters, Conservation Partners of five different levels, and life time members.

v      Annual Convention - Our 2005 convention complete with an education day, banquet, and fundraising auction was held at the Snow-King Resort in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, December 2-3, 2005.
